1998 NYCSHS Calendar

The Society's 1998 calendar is still available. Our calendar honors Howard Fogg, called the greatest railroad artist of our time by Trains magazine. Howard Fogg passed away at the age of 79 on October 1, 1996. The New York Central System was well represented among Howard Fogg's works. While president of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie, John W. Barriger commissioned numerous paintings by Howard Fogg, 64 of which were published in a portfolio Along The Right Of Way in 1964. Other paintings of New York Central subjects were rendered for the American Locomotive Company, W. H. Miner Co and for private individuals. On the front cover shows Niagara class S-1a 6000, eastbound along the Hudson River, where our back cover shows two Alco freight units eastbound at Annsville Creek drawbridge, also along the Hudson.

1990 NYCSHS Calendar

The Society's 1990 calendar is still available. On the front cover, "The Centuries Pass In The Night" This reenactment of that famous daily event was photographed by CLIO award-winning photographer Gerald Brimacombe, a member of the NYCSHS, and was posed with the superlative 1/4" scale models of the Century equipment which Mr Brimacombe created. On the rear cover, Looking east at Cleveland Ohio Union Depot in 1906 - LS&MS photo.

1989 NYCSHS Calendar

On the front cover, "The T&OC Depot at Bucyrus" is a watercolor by R.L. Corwin of Bucyrus, Ohio that depicts the station in the early days of the Toledo and Ohio Central. Mr. Corwin was a ticket agent at Galion, Ohio in the early 1950s. On the rear cover class DRSP-6c #8253 is shown on the Harlem Division at North White Plains, NY on February 1, 1965, about to drop its train for the electric which will forward it to Grand Central Terminal. This locomotive was renumbered 5502 in 1966 (Photo collection of Dr. Louis A. Marre).
